OUR COMMUNITY
Nestled at the base of the scenic Shadow Butte, the City of Emmett is the the Seat of Gem County. Featuring Freezeout Hill's majestic views and the Payette River's clear winding waters, Emmett is located only 35 minutes from the state capitol in Boise. We are a vibrant, growing, friendly community that provides new businesses with a cost effective place to begin, and offer our existing businesses opportunities to begin or expand. Gem County still has that small town feeling we have kept over the years. Our crime rate is very low, and we are proud of being a safe place to work and live. We are sure you will be pleased with our outgoing business people, great schools, infrastructure, and the character of our community.
Emmett
was originally settled in the early 1860's after the gold discoveries
of the Boise Basin. Railways and river transportation provided
for expansion and opportunities to prosper in Martinsville (later
named Emmett). Farming, ranching, fruit-growing and forest products
transformed this rural community. Clean air, tranquil sunsets,
ample water supply and community friendliness are just a few of
the advantages of living in Emmett.
